Hatchnotch

Meet Nib,
the pet that hatches in your notch.

Hatchnotch turns the dead space around your MacBook notch into a home for a tiny pet, plus live widgets for Claude Code, CI, music and your day. Nib cheers when you ship and sulks when tests fail.

The pet

Six pets, a dozen moods, zero productivity lost.

Pick a cat, bunny, bear, frog, ghost or robot. When things are quiet it climbs out and wanders under your menu bar, naps when you're away, and hops back in the moment something happens. Clicks always go straight through it.

All six Hatchnotch pets shown in each of their moods: happy, angry, sad, surprised, in love and asleep

For Claude Code users

Approve Claude without leaving your work.

When Claude Code needs permission, the notch shows exactly what it wants to run, and you allow or deny it right there. Your 5-hour and weekly limits, live sessions and GitHub Actions runs sit one hover away.

A permission prompt in the notch: Claude wants to run a command, with Allow and Deny buttons

Know when it's done

Nib pops up when Claude finishes or needs you, so you can stop watching the terminal.

Questions

Does it work without a notch?

Yes. On Macs and external displays without a notch, Hatchnotch draws one at the top of the screen.

Does it read my screen or my Claude conversations?

No. Claude Code usage comes from token counts in your local logs, never message content, and the CLI talks to the app over 127.0.0.1. Nothing is uploaded.

Which macOS?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

What will it cost?

Early access is free. Pricing for the full release isn't set yet, and people on the waitlist hear first.
